Pool Play (NL, AL, & IL Divisions)

The PLLL postseason will begin with a Pool Play Tournament held May 2–3. This replaces traditional random playoff seeding and will now determine placement in the playoff bracket.

All teams will be randomly assigned pool play matchups. Regular season results will not be used for seeding. Teams will be seeded into the playoff bracket based on pool play performance, using:

  • Wins/Losses
  • Run Differential (as a tiebreaker)

Following pool play, all teams will advance into a double elimination playoff bracket, which will continue throughout May until a champion is determined.

Please note:

  • Playoff games extend beyond the regular season schedule into May
  • The league will be dark over Memorial Day weekend; no games will be scheduled over the four-day weekend of May 22-25.
  • Closing ceremonies for all divisions are scheduled for May 30. Championship games may be held that day, if necessary.

All regular season rules apply dependent on Managers playoff rules meeting.

Double Elimination Playoff (NL, AL, IL Divisions)

Following the completion of the Pool Play Tournament, all teams will be seeded into a double elimination playoff bracket based on their pool play results.

In a double elimination format, teams must lose two games in order to be eliminated from the tournament. This structure allows every team the opportunity to continue competing after their first loss.

How it works:

  • Teams are seeded into the bracket according to their pool play performance.
  • All teams begin in the winner’s bracket
  • Teams that lose a game move into the loser’s bracket
  •  A second loss results in elimination from the tournament
  • The final remaining teams from each bracket will compete in the championship game

Additional Notes:

  • Game schedules will be updated throughout the playoffs as teams advance and up to date brackets for IL, AL, and NL will be posted up at the snack shack.
  • Specific rules regarding pitch counts, minimum playing time, and game limits will be communicated following the managers meeting
  • Championship games may be held on May 30, in conjunction with Closing Ceremonies
